Rules

NEUSE & CAPE FEAR WARS, TOURNAMENT SERIES 

TOURNAMENT RULES

 

1. Review all local, state, and federal fishing regulations. 

2. All participants must follow North Carolina boating and safety regulations. 

3. DRAMA WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. If you have something that needs to be brought to our director’s attention,  please message us IMMEDIATELY ...Your name will never be announced. Protests MUST be made WITHIN 10 MINUTES of the conclusion of weigh in, before any prizes are awarded.  

4. These are trailed events...You can ONLY launch at wildlife ramps on the Neuse River and Cape Fear River, with the exception of Deep Creek Outfitters

5. No private ramps are allowed to give everyone equal opportunities. 

6. All fish must be caught by rod and reel only. If you get caught catching/obtaining catfish by any other method you will be disqualified and banned from all future events. 

7. This is a BOAT ONLY series, there is no limit on the number of anglers per boat.

8. NO STRINGERS will be allowed. You must have a livewell capable of keeping your fish healthy

9. Anyone fishing that is 15 years old or younger fishes for free with a paid entry. 

10. No catfishing on tournament waters 48 hours prior to the tournament date. 

11. Bait fishing will be allowed on tournament waters at all times. 

12. Each tournament throughout the series will be a 3 fish weigh in per boat/team. 

13. We will NOT weigh in any dead catfish. Trash fish do not have to be alive. 

14. Upon weighing in, your fish have 10 minutes to swim away under their own power. If a fish does not swim away during that window, that fish’s weight will be deducted from your total weight.

15. Trash fish includes gar, bowfin, and carp. 

16. If there is a tie... The team that caught the largest fish wins. 

17. No fishing within 100yards of another boat... The ENTIRE River is open. 

18. Each tournament will begin with a MANDATORY captains meeting.. Every team’s boat MUST BE PRESENT in order for livewell checks to be performed.

19. We will give out numbered chips at the time of registration, you must keep up with this chip. This chip is to be returned before the start of weigh-in. This chip is our way of keeping up who is present at weigh-in, as well as ensuring no teams arrive late.

20. The chip must be turned in by a member of YOUR TEAM. You may NOT give your chip to another team and have them turn it in for you.

21. If you misplace your chip, a member of YOUR team must still report IN PERSON to our director and notify them that you lost your chip. We will mark your team present and you will be eligible for weigh-in.

22. If you are late to the weigh in we will have to disqualify your team. NO EXCEPTIONS

23. Do NOT bring more than 3 fish to the scale. You must cull your fish prior to the weigh in. 

24. 10% of the prize money will be held from each individual tournament throughout the series and will be given to the champion team at the end of the series 

25. Neuse & Cape Fear Wars Directors WILL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES, THEFT, INJURIES, OR DEATH DURING THE TOURNAMENTS. 

26. NO REFUND UNLESS THE TOURNAMENT IS CANCELED. 

27. Most important rule of all...Have a great time and make sure you come to the weigh-ins for the opportunity to win a prize even if you got the skunk!
